Twitter 7.0: Design Overhaul, Reader View, New Settings + More!

The official Twitter app is receiving somewhat of a major update, this weekend.

Introducing what the network describes as a new look that it says will make the overall Twitter experience “simpler” in use, the update specifically adds a new side navigation menu that brings with it quicker access to your profile, alongside any authorised accounts, settings, and controls for privacy … all in one place.

With bolder headlines and more rounded designs to help you to “identify and focus on what matters,” the latest version of Twitter for iOS will see links to articles and websites now open in Safari’s in-app viewer, a change that, the company says, will make it easier to access the accounts you’ve signed into while also allowing for access to the new Reader mode.

Also new in this update, more intuitive icons – that should ultimately make it easier to follow along and engage with the tweets you care about, and some same tweets can now update instantly with reply, retweet, and like counts – so you can easily see conversations, as they’re happening.

Meanwhile, the app’s accessibility settings are now in a more prominent location …and a few new settings are now also available to users, such as increasing color contrast and opening links in Reader View – which should help to improve legibility and readability on some websites.

Plus, for those of you that care, you can now add filters and stickers on your profile pic to better express yourself.

Twitter is a FREE download.
