Apple Watch Series 3 Pegged for Fall 2017 Debut

Apple will reportedly unveil the third iteration of its fitness wearable at a special event set to take place, this fall.

That’s according to the ever hit-and-miss DigiTimes, who reports this week that the forthcoming next-generation Apple Watch – which could be revealed at the multi-billion dollar Apple Park – is “scheduled to be released in the second half [of 2017],” as it notes that production of the existing second-generation Apple Watch will be partially given to Compal.

“Compal has already moved equipment for production to plants in Chongqing in preparation for Apple’s orders,” iClarified adds.

DigiTimes notes that Compal shipped 5 Million wearables in fiscal year 2016, and that volume is expected to increase to over 10 Million for 2017 – it says, with the Apple Watch expected to be “a major growth driver” of that.
