Facebook has announced today that it is launching Camera – a new way to express yourself and share what you are up to with others.
Split into three different offerings called Camera, Stories and Direct, the Snapchat–esque tool will give those a platform to “share creative photos and videos with whomever they choose, for however long they choose,” the network said in a press release on Tuesday – adding that, over the coming months, it also plans to introduce new ways for the Facebook community to create their own frames and effects that can be used on any photo or video created with the new Facebook camera.
“Our goal is for the camera to be a home to hundreds of dynamic and fun effects that give you new ways to connect with friends, family, and your community,” Connor Hayes, Facebook’s Product Manager, explains.
“So from now on, you can just let your camera do the talking,” the company says.
The feature will begin rolling out to users running both iOS and Android on a worldwide basis – this week.
