Apple Airs Two New Music Ads During 2017 BRIT Awards [WATCH]

Apple Airs Two New Music Ads During 2017 BRIT Awards [WATCH]

This year’s BRITs were adorned with special mentions for Apple’s streaming service, clearly hitting towards some kind of sponsorship deal with the British phonographic awards ceremony.

Paving the way for a guest appearance by Beats 1‘s own lead tastemaker, Zane Lowe, as awards were ceremoniously given out to Beyonce, Little Mix, David Bowie, The 1975, Emeli Sandé, and Adele (among others), this year’s awards show which took place at London’s O2 also saw the company get to debut a number of new ads for its streaming service, Apple Music.

Shown during the first half-hour of the show’s airing on ITV on Wednesday night, Apple’s two new ads were voiced by Julie Adenuga – a former employee come global Beats 1 headline, who just so happens to also be the real-life sister of SKEPTA.

The prominent placement of Apple Music throughout last night’s BRITs is particular significant given that in recent years it has been Spotify who has held this exclusive contract with the British Phonographic Industry, and its associated UK labels.

Perhaps most notably, Something Just Like This – an exclusive single collaboration between both Coldplay and recent chart-toppers The Chainsmokers – was made available to download on iTunes just moments after the song’s premiere.

The track has since risen to the top of Apple Music’s ‘Hot Songs’ chart.
