Ex-Amazon Fire TV Head Becomes VP of Apple TV Marketing

According to Bloomberg, Amazon’s former head of all things TV just left the e-tailer to take up a position at Apple.

Timothy D. Twerdahl is said to have vacated his former position as Amazon Fire TV head, to instead accept his new role as Apple Vice President of TV Marketing.

“He had been general manager and director of Amazon’s Fire TV business since 2013, according to his LinkedIn profile,” the publication reports – adding that, at Apple, Twerdahl will report directly to Greg Joswiak; VP of iPhone Product Marketing.

Reports of the hire arrive via “a person familiar with the matter” and come just a month or two after the company launched its new ‘TV’ app for both iOS and Apple TV – a new offering that not only signals the company may be about to get serious with original content, but that also will aim to provide users in the U.S -and eventually, beyond- with Netflixesque control over what they’re watching.
