Right on the heels of iOS 10.2 which just hit the wires for iPhone and iPad users – everywhere, Apple on Monday also sent live the next major version of its OS designed for TV.
Most notable in this version is, (of course), Apple’s TV app.
The TV app will group video content from all the apps currently installed on your Apple TV – allowing it to know exactly where to find that latest episode, show or programme whenever you may request it via Siri.
So whether you need to know what’s going on with the big game, or catch up where you left off with Game of Thrones – Apple’s ‘TV’ app is set to be your one-stop place to discover and get recommendations for the content that most interests you.
In addition -just as it has done with iOS- Apple is in this version also switching on support for Single Sign-On, meaning it’s now finally possible for those in the U.S to login into all their supported paid video apps (such as HBO GO and FXNOW), without the hassle that often comes with multiple sign-ins.
tvOS 10.1 is a FREE download available over-the-air. The software update call be installed by heading to Settings > System > Software Update.
The upgrade has been specifically designed for use with the App Store-boasting Apple TV 4 and is also available to sideload via iTunes on the desktop, should this be required.
