iCloud Drive – Apple’s new cloud-based service for managing documents and files across both iOS and Mac, will, with the public release of iOS 9, gain an official (optional) mobile app.
Before you can physically see Apple’s iCloud Drive app, though, you’ll need to head to Settings > iCloud > iCloud Drive on either your iPhone or iPad, and flick the switch beside the option labelled “Show on Homescreen.”
Once you do, you’ll see this app magically appear on your homescreen …
Essentially, the official iCloud Drive app works just like the in-app iCloud Drive management sheet that most of you are probably already familiar with, if you happen to use Pages for iOS on a semi-regular basis.
With it you can manage files, documents and the storage those files and documents take up – separately. It’s a little addition, granted. But it should make all the difference for those who have been looking for any sort of “file management” solution on iOS.
