Designed to help you find and then measure the distance between a specific set of coordinates, and currently down from its regular asking price of $1.99, the indie-developed Coordinates for Mac might just prove to be a useful tool for the bag.
Latitude and longitude coordinates are used in a number of professional and geographic fields, but additionally, can also be useful to everyday folk either looking for the precise location of places on Earth, or who want to determine and calculate the exact distance between two specific points.
The software also facilitates the placing of multiple pins to designate certain places and areas. Using these previously placed pins you can later measure the distance between two (or more) points, in either kilometers or miles – or (if you prefer) you can also type in your chosen coordinates manually.
Coordinates can even be input in decimal degrees (DD°MM’SS.S”) – a method that takes advantage of decimal fractions, and is used by most geographic information systems (GIS).
Based on Apple’s native MapKit framework, providing users with access to 3D views, trackpad gesture support, and more – Coordinates for Mac is available FREE on the Mac App Store (for a limited time).
