To pull off the greatest art con in history, one must first pull together the best group of international art grifters money can’t buy. Luckily for professional daredevil, Crunch Calhoun, he knows several.
The object of interest? – The Gutenberg Bible.
Written in Latin, the Gutenberg Bible is an edition of the Vulgate, printed by Johannes Gutenberg, in Mainz, Germany, in the 1450s. Exactly forty-eight copies, (or substantial portions of copies), survive – today, and together, they are considered to be among the most valuable books in the world.
Starring Kurt Russel, Jay Baruchel, Matt Dillon, Terence Stamp, and Jason Jones, the stealthy comedy follows the life story of renowned art thief, and former daredevil – Crunch Calhoun (Kurt Russel) – as he pulls together a team of con-artists to hopefully snag the Gutenberg Bible and make off with its $20 Million reward.
The end result satisfies both our vicarious greed and the desire some viewers will have to see a priceless work of art wind up in the hands of someone who couldn’t care less about its price.
