First Screenshots Of Apple's “iOS In The Car” Feature Surface

It’s the feature car manufacturer BMW went on the record as saying it wasn’t sure whether it was going to include it into its future automotives.

It’s the feature that claims to allow drivers to control their iOS devices, directly from their car’s dashboard. And, it’s the feature that we can now see in action, thanks to (alleged) screenshots provided by developer – Steven Troughton-Smith.

We are of course talking about “iOS in the Car.”

An initiative by the Cupertino company to put the main navigation features of iOS into the world’s high-end automotive vehicles, “iOS in the Car” is an interface framework that claims to allow drivers to access key functions on their iPhone directly via their in-car dashboard screen.

The feature will facilitate the ability to make phone calls, play music, and display “Apple Maps” information for directions, as well as the driver being able to receive and read iMessages hands-free, either by using the car’s controls or by giving voice commands to Siri through the car’s built-in sound system.

“iOS in the Car” is continually expected to roll-out on a mass-scale, throughout 2014 (and into 2015), with most new automotive offerings expected to be carrying the feature as ‘standard,’ or as an additional add-on – by 2016.
